I had chosen this clip of Sheldon trying to teach Penny Physics because I believe it to be a good example of problematic teaching. As everyone knows Sheldon's personality has its own issues of not knowing social cues to not understanding what he is saying and how it may impact the other person. Through out the entire lesson Sheldon was being very condescending towards Penny, was not being considerate about how Penny might feel when she was getting the wrong answer to questions. Sheldon was getting frustrated with Penny and showing his frustration towards her. As well as insulting Penny when she had not understood the different concepts. All of these thing tell me that even though Sheldon wants to be able to teach Penny about physic but he himself is not a very good person for this type of job. What I would like you take from this video is that a person may want to teach but not all people can teach.
I have chosen this video as a example of exceptionally good teaching is because of the way the teacher interacts and teaches his students. As you can see from the video he starts out with a very simple pattern and continually increases it difficulty. Through his process he is keeping the attention of his class in a positive and creative atmosphere even though he is teaching one of the elements of music 'rhythm'. If one of his students makes a mistake, he does not call them out on it but simply just continues on with his lesson in the positive atmosphere that he had created. What I want you to take from this video is that teaching can come from all different places in the world and take form in all sorts of different ways. That there is no one right way of teaching.
